Session 8

7th of Flamerule (mid-morning):
We arrived at Minuta’s and there were a gaggle of people around. Trying to see if anyone was taking an unusual interest in the group was pretty difficult, but I was fairly certain that nobody was. We entered and I asked the rest of the group to give me a minute so I could speak with Minuta in private. They agreed and stepped back out of the way as I walked up to the desk. Minuta wasn’t half that bad, for a half orc, if that was my type but I like mine a little smaller. Oh yeah, and without tusks, they look like they could do some damage. A little nibbling is a good thing but not when it could end up slicing open an artery not to mention the problems that would arise with oral. Anyways, before I go off on a tangent, let me get back to what happened. She asked me if I needed anything while looking over me and my companions, I could see by the look in her eyes that we were not her usual guests. I informed her I was looking for a friend of mine and described Randal to her and asked her if she saw him to give him a message to meet us at the 6th dock from the Tipped Tankard at midnight. Slipping her a silver, she took it discreetly and dropped it in a lock box on the desk, nodded and I turned and left. I told the group we were good and started to head out. That of course wasn’t good enough for some of the group and they wanted to know details so trying to be discreet about it I tried to inform them now wasn’t the time or place to discuss it and we should wait until we got back to familiar surroundings. I think they finally took the hint and as we were leaving I noticed the two half elves, the ones that were seen with Tyro, standing back in an alley trying to be inconspicuous, Roksharr noticed a female half elf up on a roof taking an interest in our group also so I tried to look back nonchalantly and probably succeeded but Franklin did the same thing and he was about as subtle as a bull rushing through the crowd. I did recognize her as the same one I saw stealing from the merchant during the fight we had with the elemental and the one I had seen in my other disguises hanging around the Tipped Tankard and the Slippery Eel. She was the one apprenticed to Jil, Mergalla I think was the name people called her. Either way she was not on the same side as us and I wanted to be far from there before shit ended up getting hard and heavy. I think one fight a day is more than plenty for our little group. Besides we, I, needed to get ready for my meet with Randal tonight, if he ended up getting the message. I also wanted Roksharr and Alistair there just in case someone else got the same message he was to get or if either of us ended up being followed to the meet.
We got back to the Drunken Morkoth Inn and I related all I knew and suspected to the group and asked Roksharr and Alistair if they would be willing to join me figuring they would be the least likely to make too much noise. Franklin was out of the picture I could just see him stomping around in his full plate being as quiet as a rampaging horde of Tarrasque’s and Merlo wouldn’t be much better. Randal had left me a note to come alone but I didn’t want to take a chance of getting ambushed. My specialty isn’t that of stealth and hiding but more of talking my way out of trouble when my hand gets caught in the cookie jar.
We enjoyed a great meal prepared by Skinny Dick and I got Toreen to pull me a bath and gave her the look that said I didn’t want to have to wash alone, she understood. I must admit she is pretty good with her hands and not just with washing. Since I can’t have diversity at least I can have consistency. I finished my meal and headed to my room. It didn’t take long for Toreen to show and then the fun began. After the initial washing we had to get all hot and sweating just to wash all over again. Oh the sacrifices one makes for sex!
We left with an hour or so to spare so we could amble around and try and spot any tails. We didn’t see anyone following us so we headed to the meeting spot. I asked Alistair and Roksharr to find an out of the way spot and provide over watch, and they moved over to a building the whole time it sounded like someone was dragging chains around the alley. Note to self not only can Alistair not run, jump, or climb, he cannot be stealthy either. Things were just going from bad to worse and with a quickness. I moved over to the pier where the meet was to take place and noticed Randal crouched behind some crates. I also noticed Jil, that sexy bitch, and her two fucking monk guards coming this way. Shit when it rains it pours, thinking maybe they hadn’t noticed me yet I crouched down and slipped into the shadows. I was hoping Roksharr and Alistair were in place, but couldn’t see them. Jill walked right up towards me and stopped at the edge of the pier. For a brief second images of her laid out naked on a bed below me flashed through my mind and I had to shake my head to clear that thought from it. Got to admit though she looked down right fuckable in the tight ass black leather she was wearing. Yeah I could just imagine peeling that down those long legs of hers, bending her over one of these crates and… Well so much for that line of thought. She said she was just here for the one who betrayed Zeron’s group and the rest of us could leave without incident. Yeah right, Randal might have started on the wrong side but he had my back for quite a few battles and I for one wasn’t going to just leave him to the wolves, no matter how fucking hot they were. Plus I was pretty close to the water so if shit went south with a quickness I could always dive in, a friend Randal might be, but when it comes down to it my life is definitely worth more to me than his. While this exchange was going on I saw Randal scribble something down on a piece of paper and stick it under the edge of the crate he was next to. Two more of Jil’s lackeys stepped out of hiding and looking over my shoulder I could see a big-ass bastard directing traffic away from our area. Mask be with me I thought and put my hand to my rapier. I guess by my stance they knew I wasn’t going anywhere so everything happened at once. One of the rogues closed in on me. Randal stepped out of hiding and tumbled over towards Jil, Alistair sent his rocks from the heavens down on top of Jil and her two Monk bodyguards, and Roksharr started letting his arrows fly. The two monks moved in on Randal and started pummeling him and Jil hit him with her whip and he froze. One of the monks then moved over to me and I figured being between him and a rogue was not a good idea and tumbled out of there. Unfortunately the only avenue open to me at the time was in Jil’s direction, and that turned out to be a mistake. I wasn’t sure what the hell Alistair and Roksharr where doing but the bad guys were not dropping and my life was, rapidly I might add, so I started looking for an out. That was when shit went from bad to worse. Two arrows came out of the dark and slammed into Randal dropping him. Then Jil hit me with her whip and I froze. One of the monks stepped up and put his fist into the side of my temple and it was lights out for me.
When I awoke coughing down what I would assume was one of my cure light potions, there stood Tyro and his two elf buddies, Randal was laying in a pool of his own blood with his throat slit, and one of the monks was pinned to a wall of one of the warehouses. At least Roksharr and Alistair where up. I guess I should have opted for the larger party or said fuck ‘em and jumped in the water. I have a feeling the results would have been the same they wanted Randal dead and they were set on receiving that verdict. We headed to the temple of Helm Roksharr thought that they might raise Randal but I really couldn’t see that happening they are a church and to perform shit like that it doesn’t matter who you worship the almighty gold coin talks and if you don’t have the required amount you ain’t getting shit. Sure they will sugar coat it but in the end he is still dead and there isn’t a damn thing that will change that. So we grabbed Franklin and headed back to the inn. Tyro had mentioned something about Harpers but he didn’t want to talk about it in the open and said the Drunken Morkoth would be a better place for the conversation.
When we got to the inn it was conspicuously vacant except for Tyro his two buddies and the normal crew working. He filled us in on the fact that they were Harpers and they let me know that Leera was safe which was a relief. Finally some answers to all the fucking questions floating around in my head. I knew there was something fishy about their little group I just didn’t figure it would turn out to be a boon for us. With the basics out of the way we figured it was time to rack out for the night and we would get caught up to speed the next day.
8th of Flamerule:
Well we were just chillin’ having a bite to eat when in walks this gorgeous female she introduced herself as Celeste and handed me an invitation to meet her at the Cusp of Sunrise. Since I had spent some time scoping out the city over the past few days I knew this to be a very elite club. The only problem was that I was to bring the entire group and well we know how well they fit in with the high life about as well as a great axe trying to go into a sword scabbard. Why does it always fall to me to make these hoodlums presentable. Hopefully they will take my advice this time. I tried to explain that it was just the same as meeting with the lord mayor. Again Franklin wanted to go in full armor and Roksharr wanted to take his bow. For fucks sake why must everything be debated just do as I say when it comes to these situations. If there are questions about magic I don’t argue with the two spell casters, why cuz I know they are the casters of the group, so why when it comes to matters of dealing with higher class citizens must they always have to do things the hard way, when are they going to learn, in these situations, I am their better. Well eventually they acquiesced and although I knew problems would still arise I left it at that.
While we were sitting there, in walks Tyro and his group. So we slid some tables together and joined them. As we were talking about things Randal’s name came up and there was an immediate interest from one of the bar patrons. This guy steps up to our table with perhaps the biggest guy I have ever saw, I mean he even over topped Franklin by at least a foot. They introduced themselves and as it turned out this guy by the name of Tordek was Randal’s brother. Well that was a fortuitous turn of events. Especially since it appeared these two were traveling companions. If Tordek was half as skilled as Randal he would be a great asset to the group, and if nothing else his buddy, Wolftracker, could at least suck up some of the damage before it got to me. Since they seemed interested in joining our group I saw no problem with it and apparently neither did anyone else in the group. This did pose a problem since we were going to meet with someone at the Cusp of Sunrise and they wanted our whole group there, I couldn’t see any way to make these two fit in to that kind of crowd. I maybe a master of disguise but shit I got to have something to work with. So putting it as gently as possible I informed them that we were meeting with a perspective client but they would have to wait until after the meet. I would make sure they got their cut of whatever we got paid if we took the job. They seemed to understand and if I might be so bold to be a little relieved not to have to deal with that type of crowd. Of course what do you expect from the un-refined. While we were sitting there enjoying our conversation in walks the most beautiful dark elf I had ever seen, course now that I think about it maybe the only female dark elf I have seen, and she walked up to our table and sat down next to Tyro. She sat there like an obsidian statue perfectly still but she had this feel like she was a black panther waiting to pounce, and even though she didn’t move I had the feeling she was taking in everything. When Tyro and his group got ready to leave she was up before they even made any move. I am guessing that Tyro is a little more important than we know and she was sent as extra protection. Especially since he had to show his hand bailing our ass out of the jaws of death on the docks last night.
9th of Flamerule (afternoon):
Well it was time for me to get ready for our meet so I excused myself and headed for my room to get ready. We all arrived at the Cusp of Sunrise and I handed the door man our invitation. He looked us over and as he got to Alistair he stopped. Now while Alistair’s dress uniform is nice it is unadorned and as far as nobles and the like are concerned without jewelry you are still less than nothing, so I ended up having to let him borrow some of my jewelry so he would look a little more presentable. You know I can understand different people have different customs but as the saying goes “When in Waterdeep do as the Waterdavians do”. If you are trying to fit into someone else’s culture you need to learn to bend or eventually you will break. We got in and split of into different sections and just mingled with the crowd. I went to the back and was approached by this extremely over weight noble. He bought an extremely expensive bottle of wine and offered me some I accepted graciously and we started to converse. Then the fat bastard made a pass at me. Trying to be as polite as possible I informed him that I had much different tastes than men but, out of sheer spite, I did steer him in the direction of Franklin. As he left I couldn’t help but let out a little chuckle, sitting back I figured I would enjoy the show. Let us see how Mr. Righteous deals with that. Surprisingly, he did pretty well and shortly after that Celeste found us and we were escorted into another room.
We meet with the oldest dwarf I had ever seen by the name of Davkev. He gave us this whinny ass story of how he lost his sons and had to reconcile with them before he died and needed us to find the last one. All I really heard was blah blah blah I will pay you. That got my attention, others in the group might be in it for the glory, or because they feel it is just, but me I am in it for the gold. Money talks, bullshit walks, isn’t that how the saying goes. He offered us a fair sum and since it was for finding his last son I figured I could get a little more out of him and eventually got Celeste to get us membership into the Cusp of Sunrise. While that might not help out the rest of the group it would help me out. So agreeing on 1000gp up front and full membership benefits with the rest payable upon safe return of his son we set of. I did have to mention that we had an extra two members in our group. They didn’t like it but his old tight ass squeezed out two more 1000 gp diamonds for their cut. So we were to find his son Zenith who was a Dwarven Defender of the Malachite Fortress in the Underdark. Supposedly he had gone on an attack and had not been heard from. Davkev mentioned an old Koa-tau Shrine by the name of Bhal-Hamatugn situated north of Cauldron in the Underdark. They said seek out Crazy Jared and he would be able to direct us to the entrance to the Underdark and from there find his son and reclaim his honor. With that out of the way and our mission laid out before us we were ready to take off the next day. Now all I needed was to get Toreen to give me a nice going away present. Might not get a lot of sleep but it will be worth it.
10th of Flamerule:
So with the R&R we had we were all anxious to get back on the road, and with the pleasures Toreen imparted on me last night I was well supplied with memories to keep my bedroll warm, for a little while at least. I don’t think I will find a suitable replacement in the Underdark at some fish lover’s shrine but you never know and I always welcome good looking comers to my bedroll. Being the best looking of the bunch also helps out my cause. So unless we run into some chic who likes exotics (Roksharr) or short people (Alistair), my position as sexual mate for any lonely ladies out there is secure. Well before I get too far ahead of myself let me remain on task. With our horses in tow we headed out the gates of Cauldron. We had travelled about half a day when our forward scouts motioned that there was something ahead. As we moved forward there were a couple Griffons and their young standing protectively over their kill. The group and I all agreed there was no need to fuck with them so we gave them a wide berth and continued on our way.
That night we set up camp and got the guard shift all set up. Not long after my head hit the bed we were awoken as the camp was being attacked. These two large looking panthers with tentacles coming out of their backs had approached, one on each side of the camp. The battle was over fairly fast and we got to see the competitive side of Wolftracker come out as he started keeping tally of the hits by each member of the group. Even though we were unable to kill the creatures they decided to move on and lick their wounds and with a few quick bounds had disappeared into the night almost as quickly as they had arrived. Luckily there were no more attacks the rest of the night and we awoke fresh and ready to continue.
